Maureen Denise McCormick, the sole child of Richard McCormick and Irene McCormick, was born in Woodland Hills California on 5 August 1956. Her mother was at home and also mother to her children. Michael Dennis, Kevin and Dennis are her three elder brothers. McCormick began performing and singing from a young age. When she was just six, McCormick was crowned her first prize in the Baby Miss San Fernando Valley contest. Pat Domigan from the Jack Wormser Agency then called McCormick to inquire whether the actress was interested in a career in show business. McCormick was offered her first major task when she was cast in the commercial for television that was broadcast in 1964 of Mattels latest baby doll Baby Pattaburp. She did another commercial in the year 1964 for the Mattels Chatty Cathy toy and soon she was given the main character in the play Wind It up and It Breaks, a play at La Jolla Playhouse. The Brady Bunch In 1969 McCormick was picked from among 1,200 kids who auditioned for the chance for the role of the oldest of three towheaded daughters on the new TV show The Brady Bunch starring Florence Henderson and Robert Reed as newlyweds with an unintended family. The show ran for five seasons. McCormick admitted the story Heres the Story. Surviving Marcia Brady, and Finding My True Voice (published in 2008) that McCormick almost lost her virginity to Barry Williams during the five-year run in the series. In 2008, McCormick revealed in her book, Here's the Story: Surviving Marcia Brady and Finding My True Voice that in season five on the show, she nearly lost her virginity to actor Barry Williams. It was a time that would have not been ideal for us, she informed me.
